CES 2014: LG Lifeband Touch shown off before big CES reveal

It was inevitable that wearable tech would be a big thing at CES 2014 and LG has decided to jump on the fitness band bandwagon, with the LG Lifeband Touch.

Although details are a little thin on the ground, the new wrist warmer has been revealed on the LG Korean blog and it will be both iOS and Android compatible thanks to Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

On the front of the Lifeband Touch is an OLED display that’s, you’ve guessed it, touchscreen and the device is all set to notify you when you have messages and the like on your phone.

All of this proves that a leaked render in late December of the LG Lifeband Touch was correct.

Band on the run

The LG Lifeband Touch will also offer exercise goals, calorie output, take incoming calls and play music from whatever device you have connected to it.

This isn’t the first time that LG has got into the fitness tracking game. It unveiled the Nike Fuelband clone Smart Activity Tracker prototype this time last year but never actually released the thing. By the look of the picture released by LG, the look of the Lifeband Touch is definitely similar.

One interesting change, though, is that this will come with a pair of earphones that will measure your heart rate.

Expect more details, such as the LG Lifeband Touch release date and price, when it is officially announced at the LG press conference this week.
