Google Chromecast set to launch for UK TVs next month

Google might be about to release its Chromecast streaming dongle in the UK, following word that one retailer is set to start selling it next month.

Speaking to The Next Web, a representative from retailer Currys said that the dongle will be sold starting March 1, however Google says this is just a provisional date.

We still don’t know how much it will cost when it comes to the UK, or if anyone else will be stocking the device when it does.

We’re currently calling around other retailers to see who might else be selling it. John Lewis told us that it had not yet received any notification that it might be stocking the Chromecast.

We’ve also asked Google to elaborate on its plans for retailers to sell Chromecast and will update when we know more.

There have been a number of hints over the last few months that Chromecast would break out of the US. With rumours of an imminent and major Apple TV update, it could get here just in time.
